Family Therapy

Like individuals, families grow and change over time. When change occurs in a family — such as a birth, a death, a divorce, a move, or a change in employment —  it can take time for family members to adjust. Differences of perspective on how to handle the change can lead to misunderstandings and conflict.

I work with families to repair and strengthen their relationships as they confront change together. I begin by helping the members structure conversations so that they can hear each other. As we explore issues of concern, we identify the family’s strengths and values as well as patterns of interacting that interfere with their relationships. I offer communication and problem-solving skills that families can practice in therapy and use to stay connected when conflict arises.
