About Me
Welcome!
Thank you for taking the time to learn about my practice. I hope that these pages give you a sense of who I am, how I work, and whether we might be a good fit to work together on the issues where you’re seeking support. The most important factor in making progress in therapy is the quality of your relationship with your therapist. I encourage you to interview several therapists before deciding who you want to work with. I welcome you to email me with questions.
My Background
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in California who offers therapy in English and Spanish to individuals and families in the South Bay. I also offer services to clients throughout California via telehealth.
I have a BA from Yale College and a MA in Counseling Psychology from The Wright Institute in Berkeley, California. I completed my clinical training in the Sunnyvale School District and the Latinx program at CHAC, a community mental health agency serving multi-stressed families and individuals across the life span. My pronouns are she/her/hers.
Before becoming a therapist I had a fulfilling career in publishing, environmental stakeholder collaborations, and higher education. I am the parent of two children who continue to teach me about the wonder and diversity of human experience.
My work is also informed by my experience living outside the U.S. and my family’s immigration stories, which span three continents, six countries, and 140 years. I’ve seen how changing country can influence family members’ sense of belonging, self, and identity across generations as a source of both growth and pain.
Clinical Experience
I have clinical experience working with the following issues:
anxiety
depression
stress
grief and loss
post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
self-esteem
interpersonal violence
parenting/caregiving challenges
immigration and acculturation stress
stress experienced by neurodivergent people navigating a world designed for neurotypical people. I work with people who have diagnosed or undiagnosed ADD or ADHD, learning differences, intellectual disability, and sensory sensitivities and/or are autistic.
My Values and Beliefs
I believe that everyone has the capacity to change and grow. My job is to help you build on what’s working and use your strengths and interests in service of your therapeutic goals.
I also believe that our wellbeing depends not only on biological and psychological factors but also on our interactions with social systems. I am passionate about helping people to find relief from the stress of navigating unsupportive systems and find community and joy in living as their authentic selves.
I am keenly aware of the disproportionate burdens of oppression and inequality on the mental health of members of marginalized communities. I strive to create a welcoming, affirming space where clients feel safe to share what’s most important to them. I work continuously to expand my awareness of how identities where I hold privilege may affect my clients’ experience of therapy with me.
